When you spend so much of your child hood around the river, THAT is where you go to take your senior pictures.  I have always explained to my clients that these pictures are unique to THEM.  What do you want your pictures to say about you?  When you look back 20 years from now, what memories will you have from the pictures we captured?  Not just on that particular day, but what stories will stem from what was actually captured?  Oh to hear the stories 20 years down the road from this girl about these places!

Audrey … you have so much love and life in your heart.  Go out and shine Jesus to all who you meet.  Keep Him as your rock and foundation, and you can’t go wrong.  I look forward to continue watching you walk and live for Him.  Best of luck this year at A&M Corpus Christi!

  • Frances Burton - Lauren,

I really do not know where to even begin with this family. How can you describe someone when you can’t put in to clear words what they mean to you? Brigette was assigned to me as my mentor my first year teaching at Calallen, but the minute I met that sweet soul in Ray Ban’s I new we would be soul sisters for life. Sorry Brig, you can’t get rid of me.

And I love watching these two together.  Their love story is fun and shows just through one look at each other.  Yes, they have some hilarious stories to go along with it, but the love they have for one another is beyond evident when you see them together.

What is also very surreal to me, is watching them with my kids now.  They dote and adore on them just as much as I used to on them.  Fun little role reversal there.

filla2015-8104 When I first met her, these little darlings were about 2 1/2 and 7… I think. It has been such a joy watching them grow into the people they are at this very moment. filla2015-8179 filla2015-8185 filla2015-8186 filla2015-8081 filla2015-8086Thank you, Filla Family, for blessing me more than you will ever realize.  Thank you for sharpening me, Brigette!  I pray our families grow old and gray together!

Meet Cristina.  Beautiful, athletic, and fierce eyed.

We had so much fun between swatting mosquitoes and watching out for creepy crawlers.

Her laugh is contagious and her eyes tell a brilliant story.

And we sometimes cut up and have a little goofy fun in between shots.  Just to keep it real.

I have had the beautiful privilege of watching this precious creation the last two years.  Her mother had contacted me back when she turned 15 to do a photo shoot for her birthday, but at the time I was already way over booked and could not take on another thing.  They waited for me for almost another year, and we were able to capture some sweet 16s for her.  So here is a little throwback for you, Cristina …

It is always so much fun to look back and see how my clients have changed, but also my work.  Not a huge difference there, still try to stay true to my roots, but there has been some evolving and some letting go to be creative changes.

Cristina, I wish you so much happiness and success in your life.  Whatever you pursue, I know you will give 110% to it.  Whatever speed bumps come your way, you will fly over like the track star you are.  Praying as your journey of searching for next steps is beginning and the closing of your high school chapter gets closer.  Never lose your laugh or that sparkle in your eyes.  Love ya, girl!

Bowen-birth-189_WEBSometimes in life it is very hard to be obedient.  Thinking back to when I was a young child, I remember wanting just whatever it was that mom or dad said, “Now don’t touch that.”  Well, I never wanted it until you said something, sillies.  Now I really, really want just that.

For those of you that follow my personal blog, you already know this message.  For those that do not and want the back story on this post, you are welcome to read here.

This is not one of those times that it is hard to be obedient.  I want the memory making, relaxed Saturdays, and in-the-moment moments so badly.  It is hard to walk away from something that took so much prayer, time, prayer, effort, prayer, tears and more prayer to build, but I know that the exchange will be well worth it.  I already feel it as I have slowed down this past season.

IMG_6987For now, I am not walking away 100%, which may seem like a cop-out but I had some promises to keep to people that have asked over the years.  I am a person of my word, and I feel like that honors God in many ways so I am keeping to that … I also enjoy the teaching aspect and feel like this will help the void I may miss from the full business.  I am finally offering classes online (whooohooo).  Click the {photographers} tab from the homepage for all the information.  I apologize to those that have waited a year for these, but they are finally posted.

My wonderful, blessed home life has changed so much in the last 12 months; it is incredible and amazing and overwhelming all at once.  The farm is twice as busy as it was two years ago, which is a huge blessing and also a big adjustment.  You see, farming and ranching is not a job…. it is our life.  It never stops.  Ever.  And when you own your own business alongside a lifestyle that never ceases, it can become quite complicated.  You sometimes have to chose to stop one for a season in order to be, fully be present, and that is what I have been called to do.  Although I love my customers and my passion for this art, my Lord and family come first and foremost.  I know I will miss shooting, but will be fulfilled with capturing memories of my own family and the life that is right under me now.

Thank you to everyone who has been along on this beautiful journey.  Please pray for me as I 1) adjust and 2) begin shutting things down.  The process wont be easy, but the call is oh so clear.

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”  John 10:27

XOXO,

Lauren
